STEM-focused educational experiences expand Unified Work’s impact.

From Soft Skills to STEM: A Mission-Driven Evolution

Unified Work launched in 2017 as a single workforce development course. It focused on building career advancement through soft skills training, such as communication and problem-solving.

Adapting to a Changing Workforce

Economies and job markets around the country have changed dramatically in the eight years since that first Unified Work “Work Skills 101” class. The program continues to adapt and grow each year, ensuring educational experiences are preparing individuals for opportunities across the modern workplace, including in highly technical and in-demand fields.

In addition to expanding its soft skills courses to meet rising demand, Unified Work added virtual reality and piloted STEM-oriented learning opportunities into its educational experiences.

Today, participants in these courses develop technical skills and new approaches to problem‑solving and analytical thinking, two leading qualities needed in tech-driven industries.

Why STEM Matters

STEM education can dramatically change the trajectory of a person’s life, particularly when designed inclusively, enriched by technology, and supported by hands‑on career exploration. Statistics clearly show that STEM education can bridge employment barriers for anybody.

For people with disabilities, it can transform what’s possible professionally, opening access to high‑demand, high‑skill fields that often pay better and offer more upward mobility. Introducing more people to these valuable skills and ways of thinking allows Unified Work to enhance the workforce of local communities. Training new, diverse, and skilled individuals builds careers with local employers.

Building Toward One Million Learning Experiences by 2030

Unified Work’s investment in immersive education is a cornerstone of the program’s next milestone goal: creating one million new learning experiences by 2030Momentum is building.

Unified Work’s commitment to learning for people with disabilities is a powerful example of how workforce development programs can have a meaningful impact on individuals while simultaneously benefiting employers and communities. By investing in education, Unified Work is building a future where there is a clear path for anybody to see how their unique skills and strengths can help them open the door to new opportunities.
